Balancing work and life in the UK might sound like trying to ride two bicycles at once - challenging but doable!
Let's dive into the art of work-life balance with a UK twist.
The UK's work culture is a mix of tradition and modernity. We're known for our work ethic, but sometimes that means long hours and a dash of stress. The trick is finding that sweet spot where work doesn't gobble up all our time.
Imagine sipping a cuppa in the morning, not rushing to meetings. Sounds nice, right? Well, that's the goal - making time for yourself. It's not selfish; it's necessary. Setting boundaries, whether it's with your boss or your inbox, is key.
One cool thing about the UK? We've got some stunning natural spots. From hiking in the Scottish Highlands to strolling in a London park, nature here is like a reset button. It helps you recharge after a hectic week.
Me Time Prioritise it. Whether it's reading, gaming, or Netflix, this is your time.
Work's not invited to every party. Make clear distinctions between work and life.
Use tech to make life easier, not crazier.
It's okay to ask for help, at work or home.
Unplug Take regular breaks from screens. Seriously, it's good for the soul.
Balancing life and work isn't just your job; it's a team sport. Employers, co-workers, and friends all play a part. Mental health and well-being at work are gaining importance in the UK, creating a better environment for balance.
Work-life balance is like a dance. It's not about perfection but finding your rhythm. Remember, it's not a one-time thing; it's a lifelong groove. Each step towards balance is a step towards a happier, healthier life.
My Story
My Name is Joe Crawley and I established Coaching Joe in 2018. It was called The Self Belief Coaching Practice back then but decided to rebrand as the business evolved. I have spent over 12 years working with adults and young people with low self esteem and children with severe trauma and attachment disorders. I founded The Coaching Joe company at a time when I was wrestling with feelings around a lack of fulfilment. I continuously struggled with the feeling of not living out my purpose. I could not ignore the internal conflict between my work, and my desire to do something with more purpose. Upon reaching a very clear cross roads in my career, I was left thinking...
"What do I do now?"
I spent the next few months rediscovering my true passions. With the support of my mentors and family, I began to crystallise my vision and devise a clear pathway to create my dream life. It was only then that I realised; the only person who would make my dreams a
reality, was me.
The Coaching Joe company was created to help others grow, thrive and succeed in all areas of their lives while promoting positive mental health.
My work with you is underpinned by the encouragement of self reflection, as well as the use of impactful and creative solutions to issues that arise.
Behind every big decision that I make, I ask myself one simple question;
“Someone has to do it first, why can’t it be me?”
